Steps to Learning to Accompany a Hymn

*MASTER ONE LINE AT A TIME.... for each line, do these steps

1. Learn the LEFT HAND
(Build from the bottom up, like building house.
Write in fingering.  Play until you can get every note and timing right)

2. Learn the RIGHT HAND
(Write in fingering.  Play until you can get every note and timing right.
Count out loud while you play)

3. Play BOTH HANDS together Very Slowly 3 Times Perfect
Play them ridiculously slowly so that your mind can have time to think
as you play and get the right notes.

4. Play with the METRONOME...
60 bpm, then 70 bpm, then 80 bpm
Learning to accompany means staying on the beat and being able to move on
