Family Mission Statement

"The Mission of the Anderson Family is to become and do all things necessary to be exalted as a family. To prepare for heaven, we will create a 'heaven on earth' by maintaining: A home where the spirit dwells, a home of LOVE, a home of FAITH, a home of ORDER, a home of LEARNING, a home of HEALTH, a home of WORK, and a home of PLAY-- where we are united in our obedience to God and enjoy true happiness."

Service

"When Performance is Measured, Performance Improves"

This week we made a heart chart for each kid to color in when they have done something to serve each other.  (They have to do 15 total during the week in order to come to family movie night on Friday night.)  They have been AMAZING at serving each other all week- especially some of my children who are usually not the "peacemakers" of the home.  Myriam made a goal to do double the amount required and everyone is trying to keep up with her.

Puppets

Lately, I have been doing a little primary lesson for Holland and Benson
each day as part of my afternoon pre-nap story time.
Usually I use the nursery manual- "Behold Your Little Ones" (which is wonderful)
but yesterday I was watching them play and noticed a perfect lesson.
When they (well any of us- me especially) HARDEN their HEARTS
it drives the spirit out and we become subject to Satan's will.
It's like we become his PUPPETS... he can get us to do and say whatever he wants.
Only when we have soft hearts can we have the Holy Ghost dwell in us
and entice us to do God's will. (see Alma 12:5-6)
I can see why Christ taught that the most important thing we can pray for
is to have the Spirit to be with us-
that solves prevents us from doing so many dumb and wrong things.
